New Job
Dean was a Data Analyst (Level 6) in the Business Intelligence
area of Telstra Mobiles. Dean had been with Telstra for 20
years and started straight from school. Dean was quite relaxed
with the change and used his Life & Career Program to
stay in a similar role but in a quite different industry.
Dean was supported in putting his resume together, interview
skills, applications and had an “Image Review”
in preparation for his first interview. One was all it took
as Dean landed a role from his first interview, as a Database
Specialist for a not for profit organisation, close to home
and with hours flexible enough that he could pursue his outside
interest in cricket umpiring. The whole process took less
than 3 months.
Career Change
Nikki was with Telstra for 14 years, finishing from a role
in the bid team (Level 5). On discussing her career, Nikki
revealed that the “corporate” world had burnt
her out and she was looking for an opportunity to be her own
boss. Nikki had a long-held personal interest in interior
design and Hudson supported Nikki in her networking and research
skills to find out more about this sector.
Nikki managed to find a contract opportunity in a design
organisation to increase her contacts in the industry. While
still on this contract, Nikki plans to learn as much as possible
and meet as many people as possible to continue her progress
to a new career in the field of her interest.
New Location
Dana was a Business Analyst with 8 years service with Telstra
(Level 5). Dana saw her package as an opportunity to take
stock of her career and also provide some travel spending
money! After a few weeks break, Dana reviewed her Career Drivers
and Values and determined that she would like to move to a
regional area. Dana was supported in researching businesses
in her ideal location and methods to network in a new area.
Dana also required coaching in addressing selection criteria
for her application and in presenting to a panel interview.
Not including her holiday time, Dana required only two months
to secure a new Analyst role in her preferred location in
Far North Queensland.
Semi-Retirement/Consulting
Greg had 27 years service with Telstra (Level 4) and on taking
his package he reviewed his life goals and determined that
he was not yet ready for full retirement. Greg selected a
semi-retirement option but also worked with his Adviser to
discuss contracting and consulting options to leverage his
experience in the engineering sector.
Greg really enjoyed the “self assessment” components
and he took his time working through the program to ensure
he was aware of his strengths and marketable skills. Greg
was also coached through the transition from full time to
part time work to ensure his relationships and outside interests
are well cultivated. Greg is now consulting about 2 weeks
per month and developing his carpentry skills.
