Discretionary Services

The Discretionary Services section of your Life and Career program allows you to make a personalised selection of modules to suit your needs and goals. Your program allocates you a number of points. You simply shop within your point’s allocation to build your personalised program to match your desired outcome and relevant support services required. 

The available Discretionary Modules are outlined below. It is highly recommended that you complete your selection in consultation with your Case Manager.

My Sea Change

A change in career circumstances may prompt a re-evaluation of lifestyle and career goals. If you decide on a Sea Change, this module will assist in the change process and give realistic advice on issues to consider when moving to a new location.
Topics covered in this module include:

  
Advice on managing your change in direction
  
Diagnostic tools on managing change and the impacts for your personality type, plus specialist debriefing
  
Life and career options
  
Reality checking the possibilities and the impacts
  
Ongoing skills for managing change
  
Access and information on careers in different locations via the Hudson job network



 

My Small Business

Many of Hudson’s candidates take the change in career situation as an opportunity to pursue a long held passion for small business. We can assist in this process and also provide advice on common traps to avoid. Topics include:

Transition to Consulting

You may decide to transition your skills to the consulting or contracting forum. This option can provide a work/life balance and a means to keep your skills current and strategic, whilst escaping the day-to-day politics of a full time role. In this module you will cover:

  
Preparation of a business and marketing plan
  
Sales preferences
  
Short and medium term contracting
  
Working with recruitment agencies
  
Consulting via companies or other entities


Career & Personal Development

A change in your career situation can provide an opportunity to assess your career and personal development to determine your ideal next steps. Supported by your Hudson Case Manager, this program will guide you through a suite of assessments to assist in developing your self awareness and identifying the ‘right’ next step.

Your in-depth career analysis and options assessment may include:

  
Use of Psychometric Assessment tools plus specialist debriefing
  
Identify your specific skills and competencies
  
Personal coaching on utilising strengths and weaknesses
  
Identifying and using business networks effectively 
  
Research tools for job and company searches, including access to research reports on your industry


Career Search Skills

In this module, you will be provided with one-on-one coaching to tailor your career search skills according to your background and experience. At the end of this program you will have enhanced your career skills and developed a plan of action to realize your career goals.

Gliding to Retirement

This module is specifically designed and tailored for participants nearing the end of their careers who wish to assess their remaining career goals, are considering retirement or semi- retirement and/ or evaluate their life priorities.

This module provides flexible support from your Case Manager, to focus on any area of further concern or enhancement.



 
Financial Adviser Services

Clearly, a critical component of a Life and Career assessment is the provision of quality, timely and impartial financial advice. While Hudson is not a financial planning expert, we have excellent contacts and networks.

In this module you will be introduced to an appropriate Financial Adviser to discuss:

Life and Career Support Services

In addition to the “outcome” modules, Life and Career also provides access to a number of support service to assist in achieving your goals. These include:

Life and Community Networks

Your Discretionary Services also provide access to a broad range of resources, networks and information to support you in your Life and Career program. These resources and networks recognise the increasing role of the community in our lives. These are a combination of Telstra and community networks and resources to assist in your transition process and include:
